Happy Good Friday

Here is an arrangement of Near the Cross, written by William H. Doane, arranged by John Kraus. The piano solo is from Advanced Sacred Music Solos by John Kraus and collaborated by David Carr Glover. Kraus creates a Nocturne style of this great hymn in the key of F, that flows all over the piano. He utilizes various arpeggios in the Bass Clef for the first four lines. The chorus is crossing the left hand over the right, playing 8va notes and chords. This is one of my many. favorite techniques to teach my students. The finale repeats what was created in the verse, yet he incorporates arpeggios with triplets in the Treble Clef. Hope this song helps you reflect upon always being in Jesus' presence and the work of the cross.

What are some of your favorite hymns to play during the Easter Season? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Blessings.
