Happy Independence Day

America the Beautiful is one of my many favorite Patriotic Songs written by Katharine Lee Bates and Samuel Augustus Ward. The story goes that Bates was on top of Pikes Peak and admired the beauty around, inspiring to pen the poem America the Beautiful. Samuel A. Ward, an organist and church choir director created the music that has been used since. The history is fascinating, worth checking out.
