Pirate Ship in a Typhoon

One of my students and I created an incredible song called "Pirate Ship in a Typhoon". I'm so proud of him for trying a new composition. The selection is probably one of my favorites from him or that we have collaborated on. The song includes various dynamics, articulations, flowing around the piano (my favorite part), a catchy motif you and your students will enjoy playing. Just imagine a pirate ship in the middle of the typhoon, trying its best to find "freedom" from the sea storm. The song is written in D Harmonic Minor, with a tempo marking of Allegro, yet ends with a "grave" tempo. The selection utilizes parts of the D Harmonic Minor scale, ascending and descending. The student and I love the first line of the song with D minor and C# diminished chords in the Bass Clef, while the Treble Clef goes back and forth from the D (above Middle C_ to the octave D, D to the C# (Harmonic 7th), D to Bb (6th) and ending with D to A (Perfect 5th).

What are you helping your students to create? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Blessings.
