Teaching Christmas Song in One Lesson

What a blessing to be back teaching after taking two weeks off from being sick with Bronchitis, Asthma, and Sinus Infections, yet still dealing with Laryngitis. Plus, I even had a chance to return to the school to accompany the choir. I missed being there.

In this week's lessons, I was able to teach every student an entire Christmas song or piano arrangement, which was so much fun. I focused on the main theme students knew from the song, showing them how often the motif was repeated in each arrangement. I played or sang the song, had the students listen to a YouTube of the song or piano arrangement, broke the song apart, and then had them play or sing the entire song. Everyone did an outstanding job. I'm so proud of them for trying a quick and successful technique. Brings joy to my heart. I'm anticipating hearing what the students will have prepared by next week.

I'm always learning from my students, which is my favorite part. This short quote is worth pondering.

How did you teach Christmas music this week? Would like to know. Thanks for your support. Blessings.
